Bienvenue Fotos holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the Economic Capital, Douala. Bienvenue was formed in the workshops of the Futur’Art association, a collective of artists working for the training and promotion of young people. From 2015 to 2019, she joined the studio of artist Maurice Pegoue, whom she worked with regularly. Bienvenue has participated in several exhibitions including “La place de l’hhumain” (Douala 2017), a collective exhibition in Doual’art, as part of the fourth edition of the international public art triennial, SUD (Salon Urbain de Douala); “Today” (Yaoundé 2019), a collective exhibition at the National Museum under the curatorship of Simon Njami, and “A contemporary vision Acte VIII” (Yaoundé 2018) at the headquarters of the World Bank, two initiatives of the World Bank; Artu’Elles Interference (2020) at the Annie Kadji Art GAllery, a group exhibition initiated by the architectural firm Diwouta. She is developing a series that she calls “archi-landscapes”, a bank of bark, plants and leaves which allow her to very poetically evoke the multiple and linked destinies between Man and forests in order to explore nature as a whole. Bienvenue introduces us to both the purifying and regenerating qualities as well as the medicinal virtues of the forest. It updates the forgotten and neglected benefits of a species that could be beneficial to man: A call for urgency for the latter to reconnect with this nature that inhabits it and that it inhabits to make it a combine.
